Publishers' Assistant Software

OUR COMPANY
Since 1986, Upper Access has been publishing nonfiction books to improve the quality of life. We are particularly proud of bringing into print important books that might not otherwise have been published. We have remained small by design, usually publishing only one-to-three new titles per year, so that we can devote maximum attention to each.

As a side business, since 1989 we have been publishing industry-specific business software for fellow publishers. This started because we needed such software ourselves and at that time, there was nothing available that was affordable. We made it available at an affordable price to fellow publishers, and within the first two years hundreds of small presses were using it. Because many of our users were growing in size, with expanded needs, we created new versions, and today, we offer three versions of our basic program--which is now called Publishers' Assistant--for publishers with different levels of need.

More recently, we have added a software program known as Couplet, used by publishers to manage their titles and contacts. This has attracted much attention and interest as the book industry moves toward requiring formation of title data in ONIX format.

Meanwhile, we are proud to be publishing books that consistently receive good reviews and public acclaim. Our biggest sellers over the years have been on the subject of death and dying--particularly "Caring for the Dead" by Lisa Carlson and "Dealing Creatively with Death" by Ernest Morgan (the latter now in its 14th edition). We have not limited ourselves to that niche, however, and have published successful titles in diverse subject areas including building & remodeling, politics, saving money, the environment, and alternative medicine.
