Member Directory Listing - About Us:
Maria was born in Athens, Greece and ever since her childhood her calling was to become an archaeologist. She studied archaeology in England in the late 1980’s and holds two degrees, one with distinction. Before relocating to the USA in 2008, she worked as a field archaeologist and a researcher with the Hellenic Ministry of Culture in several important archaeological sites all over Greece. Following her marriage to Carl, Maria moved to the USA and she decided to test her abilities in the sphere of children’s literature. The seeds of this venture were planted in 2012, during a stormy wintery night in New England. Maria had just come out of a serious health adventure that prompted her to seize the day and suddenly felt a strong urge to address children. Using her background as a Greek archaeologist, she decided to turn to her favorite ancient Greek playwright, Aristophanes, for inspiration. The Adventures of Hope and Trusty, Sky Cloud City is a free adaptation of the most fairy-tale-like of his comedies, The Birds (Ornithes). It is intended to be the first book in a series inspired by a few of the most popular comedies by Aristophanes. Sky Cloud City is accompanied by an artfully designed and educational Activity Book.

Book #1 Description
The Adventures of Hope and Trusty, Sky Cloud City, is the story of two young friends, a boy named Trusty and a girl named Hope. They seize an opportunity to go on an adventure to the bird kingdom and help the oppressed birds restore their status among men and the gods. Sky Cloud City, a book inspired by Aristophanes’ masterpiece “The Birds” (a play staged in Athens in 414BC), extols the virtues of friendship, cooperation, peace, and respect for the environment. The lesson is that through friendship, cooperation, perseverance, and responsibility, all things can be accomplished, but the highest and most important goals are peace and friendship.
